Get to know Mike and Marnie
Mike and Marnie have a passion for providing quality care for the elderly, in a residential family setting. The couple has a large family, including eight grandchildren, who love to engage with the residents. Marnie has over 30 years experience working with seniors in nursing home, hospital, and residential settings. She holds a current RN license.
Mike was formerly employed in the ‘corporate world,’ until 2005. While visiting Marnie at work at a local nursing home, he was saddened by the institutionalized environment. Later, while talking to their Pastor and his wife, they learned about the concept of “Family Adult Foster Care.” Upon deciding this was something that would be meaningful for them and the community, they pursued their license with Sherburne County that fall.
After providing foster care services for 15 years in Zimmerman, the Wippers had a vision to pursue a more suitable setting that would provide a phenomenal experience for their residents. In 2020, the entire household moved to a beautiful home on the eastern shore of Big lake, where the residents are able to better access the lake and enjoy strolls through the neighborhood.
Adult foster care provider of the year
At The Lake Adult Care received the “Adult Foster Care Provider of the Year” award for Sherburne County in 2009 and 2022. Both years, they went on to receive the “Outstanding Adult Foster Care Provider” award for Region VII of the Minnesota Social Service Association. “It has truly been an honor serving our seniors and their families throughout the years!”
We have a wonderful team of part-time caregivers, each bringing their own strengths to our home.
